Glass has been a passion for some time now. Studying, learning, experimenting, dreaming. Inspiration and motivation to work in glass came through a trip to the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, WA. Walking over the Chihuly Bridge of Glass, sitting in the Hot Shop Amphitheater watching the resident team of glass blowers demonstrating the process of creation started a dream that needed to come to fruition.
I knew glass blowing wasn’t going to be an option available to me, so after some extensive research, the process I chose for creating glass art is called kilnforming, where multiple layers of glass are fused together in a kiln at temperatures up to 1500 degrees, annealed for strength, cooled and possibly refired and slumped in a mold to give the piece shape.
I also have a passion for photography and am in the process of using my photos for inspiration in the creation of a new body of work in glass and powder.
